Swedish police raid Pirate Bay 'source'

As the Pirate Bay court case rumbles into the deliberation phase, Stockholm police have raided an alleged file-sharing ring and confiscated a server and several other computers, reports TechRadar.

The Swedish Anti-Piracy Agency (APA) says the server contained 65TB of copyright material, such as films and music, which it was delighted to point out is equivalent to 16,000 movies.

t claims the equipment belongs to the Sunnydale file-sharing ring, which has no obvious connections to The Pirate Bay, however inferences are sure to be drawn by those involved in prosecuting the larger group.

As if to hammer home that point, APA lawyer Henrik Ponten suggested the Sunnydale ring was the source of illegal material linked to by The Pirate Bay.

However, The Bay's Peter Sunde countered the suggestion, saying: "More than 800,000 people have uploaded to The Pirate Bay, so I don't believe it's the source of everything. But it is possible that it's a major source."

A verdict in The Pirate Bay case is expected some time next month.
