Instant Political Martyrdom via YouTube

An extraordinary case of a student being tasered by the police in front of a former presidential candidate plays out in real time on the Web. Mike Nizza reports on NYTimes Blog The Lede.

"Andrew Meyer was utterly unexceptional during John Kerry’s appearance at the University of Florida. But Mr. Meyers’s dramatic exit didn't go smoothly as he struggled with university police.

“Don’t Tase me, bro,” he screamed“Owwwww” as he’s being shocked by the Taser gun, and screams of horror came from the crowd.

That much is known from a video posted to YouTube 15 hours ago in a clip that is spreading around the Web with rallied support by his friends on Facebook - and creating an instant political martyr out of Andrew Meyer."
