Campaign Internet Videos: Viewed More on TV than Online
Virral videos spun by and against the presidential candidates have been getting a lot of buzz for a while now -- but who's actually watching them? A decent number of people it turns out. But most are doing so on TV. SFGate: Culture Blog! reports.
"According to a study by Pew Research Center for People and the Press 44 percent of the people polled last week had heard of the four biggest buzz-generating campaign-related videos and 27 percent had seen at least one. The odd thing: In each case, more people had seen the videos on TV than online.
-- The campaign-produced video of the Clintons parodying "The Sopranos" finale was first as 32 percent of the respondents had heard of it, and 15 percent had seen or heard of it on TV
-- The "I Got a Crush on Obama" ode to Sen. Barack Obama was second with 16 percent hearing of it, and 6 percent seeing or hearing of it on TV
-- The video of ex-Sen. John Edwards combing his hair to "I Feel Pretty" was third with 15 and 5 percent
-- Sen. John McCain's infamous "bomb Iran" set to the Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann" had 13 and 5 percent.
In most cases, just as many people over 50 had seen the videos as younger ones."
