YouTube tries Video Advertising

NewTeeVee reports that YouTube is testing a new advertising format with text ads appearing inside the player. Once clicked, the ad expands to the full screen. [via Advertising Lab]

Commenting on the news advertising scheme, Duncan Riley on TechCrunch recognizes Google's quest to monetize YouTube, but is unconvinced and I agree. "The ads shown so far are not contextual, they are unrelated to the subject of the video. Who would willingly click on an optional advertisement that interupts your viewing?
