It Is Now a Crime to Unlock Your Smartphone. Offenders may pay up to $1m or serve 10 years in jail

As of Saturday January 26, it is illegal to unlock new phones in the US to make them available on other carriers.

Under the new law,an offender may pay up to à 1,000,000 or serve 10 years in jail.
