FrontlineSMS:Credit on the role of mobile in microinsurance

In the coming months, FrontlineSMS:Credit will be working with MicroEnsure to allow individuals to purchase microinsurance plans without having to be a member of a savings group.[via FrontLineSMS]

Premium payments will be sent in to MicroEnsure via M-PESA, and the use of FrontlineSMS + PaymentView will allow MicroEnsure to monitor all of the program participants through real-time data about when each participant has paid, how much, and what their total remaining monthly balance is.

By leveraging the efficiency and ease of using mobile money, hundreds of people will be able to access life insurance policies that are vital for protecting their families in the event of a tragedy.
