SoundWalk apps launched for Paris Nuit Blanche a Huge Success

SoundWalkStGermain.jpg The Soundwalk iPhone applications launched during the Nuit Blanche in Paris, a celebration of contemporary art on Saturday October 3, had a great kick-off start.

Over 2.000 soundwalkers downloaded the app and did the aural augmented reality tour with their iPhone in three different neighborhoods in Paris: Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Le Marais and Belleville.

Some 57.4 % of the French citizens installed the application on Saturday, followed by American (14.1%) and German (10.2%) tourists in Paris. The rest of the downloads came from the Brits and a mix of the rest of European countries.

On the launch date, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Soundwalk iPhone applications entered the TOP 20 of iPhone travel applications on nr. 14 and received a 4.5 ranking on 5!

This is indeed a very promising start for this new travel entertainment mobile application, bringing culture to high-tech mobile products. The apps are original urban soundtracks, in which fiction and reality merge through the music, narrator’s voice, interviews, original music composition, and sound effects, combined with mapping technology, creating the sensation of walking in a film.
