Twitter's the new driving menace: study

78.jpg Drivers are logging on to social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook and chatting over the internet while they drive, new research in Britain has found, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

quotemarksright.jpgBritish insurance company Esure says one in 10 of the 1000 people it surveyed admitted to "tweeting" or updating their Facebook profile while behind the wheel.

Esure said it had found an average of 52 Twitter posts per day made by people who claimed to be driving.

One post said: "Driving with my knees and peeling an orange...Probably not the safest thing to be doing."

Another claimed to be driving a school bus, while one said: "Intoxicated driving. Let's hope this works out."quotesmarksleft.jpg
