Brits sending 216m texts a day

In total, Brits sent 78.9billion texts last year – 216million a day - compared to 56.9billion in 2007 and 41.8billion in 2006, according to new figures released by the Mobile Data Association (MDA). Metro reports.

Picture and video messages are also soaring, particularly on Christmas Day last year when festive Brits sent 4.5million MMS messages – an increase 38% from the same day in 2007.

Overall, multimedia messaging went up by 23% last year, from 449 million in 2007 to 553 million 12 months later.
