Jajah app adds calling, texting to iPod touch
Internet phone company Jajah can turn the iPod touch into an iPhone. Crave reports.
The company, which competes with other providers of low-cost Internet calling applications, such as Skype, announced on Thursday a new application that will allow iPod touch users to call and text messages using a voice over IP network instead of a carrier's cellular network.
Anyone with the latest version of the iPod touch will be able to download the service from the Apple App Store.
With a microphone headset (available from Apple), users will immediately be able to make calls and send SMS messages from their device from any Wi-Fi network in the world.
Calling costs will be up to 98 percent cheaper than existing rates on mobile networks, and in many cases could be free.
