Mumbai citizens to pay property taxes through SMS
In a respite from the long queues, the busy citizens of Mumbai will now be able to pay property taxes through a much simpler way of SMS technology. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced the concept to ease the process of property tax payment. IT Examiner reports.
Citizens can buy cards of denomination $2 (Rs 100) to $410 (Rs 20000). These cards will be made available at Railway stations and several other retail outlets. All the users will be prompted with a SMS asking whether the user would like to pay the taxes. Once the user confirms the payment, the tax amount will be deducted from the account.
