No More Texting While Driving In California
The California legislature approved on Thursday a bill that prohibits texting while driving. Adult violators would be fined $20 for first offense and $50 for subsequent offenses. [via AHN]
But it still needs the signature of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who earlier vowed not to sign any legislation until the state budget is approved.
Not everyone agrees on the bill. State Sen. Joe Simitian thinks it's unnecessary interference in personal behavior: "Texting while driving is so obviously unsafe that it's hard to believe anyone would attempt it, yet everyday observation suggests there are an awful lot of folks who do."
