Why Unlocked French iPhones won't work in other countries

Interesting, from Tech.co.uk. An unlocked iPhone bought in France won't work in the UK or the US or any other country, because Apple has applied not just a lock, but a country lock, so that they only work on French mobile networks.

So connecting from anywhere else than France, would mean paying high roaming charges.

Orange denies the claim.
