Australia. Driver mobile fines hit $7m

0%2C%2C5756872%2C00.jpg The number of drivers fined in Australia for illegally using mobile phones has more than tripled over the past five years, according to The Daily Telegraph.

"Mobile phone offences have become a rich revenue stream for State Treasury, with the 30,782 fines last financial year worth $7,118,727.

Office of State Revenue figures show that in 2002-03 just 12,812 mobile phone fines - worth $2,818,640 - were issued."
