She's gotta have it

Shiny, clever, costly contraptions that are a must-have for the modern woman. The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The 21st- century fembots crave gadgets like women in the '50s lusted after cashmere twinsets. Yes, girls are geeks and they're not afraid to show it.
... Now women consumers want not just a communication device but a style icon that represents their lifestyle.
Female marketing researchers Splash Consulting confirmed women's growing obsession with technology - with mobile phones, digital cameras and MP3 players among the gadgets that girls now can't seem to live without.
... "Once women would shun products that were clearly feminised or pink," Splash managing director Amanda Stevens says. "Now products that are overtly female and designed for women are becoming really popular. Women want gadgets that are functional but they also have to look good. A woman is far more likely to see a mobile as a fashion accessory than a man."
