Sprint Cancels Soldiers' Cell Phones
Following a story in yesterday's Wall Street Journal reporting that Sprint Nextel Corp. had disconnected 1,000 customers for calling customer service excessively, Beta News reports that Sprint's move to cancel problem accounts is wider than initially thought, and apparently also aimed at those who roam too frequently - including soldiers fresh home from Iraq, who have been cut off.
"I paid LESS to call home and keep in touch from the other side of the world than I do now with Sprint to call within the country through a Middle Eastern carrier", wrote user "Shafted_Sprint" in a on SprintUsers.com. The soldier said he planned to contact Congress as well as the media to discuss his plight."
Talk about bad press...
