Exploding mobile phone battery kills welder

The Inquirer reports that a man has been killed by his mobile phone in North-western China, when his phone battery blew up. There have been reports of people burned by exploding cell phone batteries, but this is the first time someone has reportedly been killed.

"The device tore into the man's chest, breaking a rib and forcing it into his heart. He died in hospital.

The manufacturer of the phone is known to the authorities, but not to the press for now. The firm has been informed and is investigating, according to the local paper Lanzhou Chenbao. "
