Send One SMS to save One Life in Darfur
Because millions are dying in Darfur, a Turkish association called Kimse Yok Mu is calling out for mobile user to reach out by sending a single SMS message and a small donation.
According to Today's Zaman, "a YTL 5 donation (or $3.70 - I initially got the conversion wrong, sorra bout that) - to the Kimse Yok Mu Darfur campaign can be made by sending an SMS reading "DARFUR" to the number 5777, through mobile operators Turkcell, Vodafone or Avea. For donations other than YTL 5, the association can be reached at (216) 521 80 80."
Right now you can't participate by text message if you're not a mobile subscriber in Turkey. But the idea should be widely picked up, or Kimse Yok Mu should make the campaign international. It's such a good idea.
