Amnesty International set for donations via mobiles

ai_logo.gif BCS reports that Amnesty International is to launch a system whereby donations can be made via mobile phones.

"Instead of using the premium rate text message system, the charity intends to introduce a digital wallet method known as LUUP.

This will allow more money to go to the human rights organisation instead of allowing network operators to take a cut for using premium rate messages.

Donors can also send up to £800 via their mobiles, instead of having to stick to the £4.50 limit imposed by text messaging. "
