European cities launch IT and telecoms research network

About 20 European cities, including London, Barcelona, Stockholm and Helsinki, have launched The "Living Labs Europe" project, a network for information sharing, research and testing in the fields of mobile and information technology. The AFP reports.

"One of the goals of the network is to attract companies from around the world to take part in European research and innovation efforts," Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, whose country holds the European Union presidency until the end of the year, said as the network was launched in Helsinki."
