Nokia Navigates Patent Deal

Nokia has announced a patent licensing deal with 28-year-old GPS specialist Trimble Navigation under which Nokia will have exclusive rights to use and sublicense Trimble’s wireless consumer products. [via Red Herring]

"... Wireless location-based and navigational technologies are just starting to emerge because the various pieces of the technology, including the capacity of the network, have only just gotten up to speed.

“We are very pleased to be working with Nokia to incorporate our intellectual property into the most common consumer electronic device―the mobile phone,” said Steven Berglund, chief executive of Trimble."
