Telephone telepathy -- I was just thinking about you
Many people have experienced the phenomenon of receiving a telephone call from someone shortly after thinking about them -- now a scientist says he has proof of what he calls telephone telepathy. Reuters reports.
"Rupert Sheldrake, whose research is funded by the respected Trinity College, Cambridge said on Tuesday he had conducted experiments that proved that such precognition existed for telephone calls and even e-mails.
Sheldrake -- who believes in the interconnectedness of all minds within a social grouping -- said that he was extending his experiments to see if the phenomenon also worked for mobile phone text messages." (Picture left from Last one speaks)
There actually have been similar studies applied to cell phones:
-- When you hear ringing and there's no one there -The New York Times reported in May on "audio illusion, phantom phone rings or, more whimsically, ringxiety or fauxcellarm. ... People now live in a constant state of phone vigilance, and hearing sounds that seem like a telephone's ring can send an expectant brain into action.
-- Ringxiety - Following the New York Times story on "audio illusion, phantom phone rings or ringxiety and fauxcellarm", News.com.au via Engadget now claims the phenomenon - of falsely believing you hear your mobile phone ringing or vibrating - is so widespread it has an official name: "ringxiety" and it's really the subconscious calculating how popular we are.
