The New Dress Code at School
Schools are banning hoodies, cargo pants and other fashions that conceal contraband like iPods and cellphones, according to an article in USA Today via YPulse
"If skin-flashing styles were the scourge of schools a few years ago, more covered-up looks are the bane of today's dress codes.
Educators' attention has shifted from bra straps and bare midriffs to safety and security. Hoodie pouches and cargo pants pockets have proven handy hiding spots for school contraband — from the dangerous (weapons) to the distracting (cellphones and iPods) — so administrators are prohibiting them.
"There is an interesting tape our sheriff showed us of all the kinds of things that can be hidden in the large pockets of cargo pants," says Harbor Creek (Pa.) School District superintendent David Smith."
