London launches "Restroom Locator" SMS Service

restroom.gif Life Style Extra reports that a text messaging service that directs users to the nearest public toilet is to launch in London. [via SMS Text News]

"Anyone needing to spend a penny can text their location to a short number, and then receive a text giving directions to the nearest public convenience, along with opening hours and facilities."

The concept became a reality following a competition run by Westminster City Council to come up with ways to make city-life easier.

Actually, it's not the first "dial a restroom" service, China launched a restroom locator in Shangai in May 2005.
