Mobile phone shipments to hit 1bn in 2006

The number of mobile phones shipped worldwide rose by 31 per cent during the first quarter of 2006, according to new figures, reports The Register.

"Strategy Analytics now expects that shipments for the year will total 1bn, up 22 per cent on the previous year."
