NTT DoCOMo's new Credit Payment Service

thumb_170_docomo.jpgNTT DoCoMo will shortly start "DCMX," a credit payment service for its "Osaifu-Keitai (wallet-mobile phone)" compatible handset users, reports Tech-On. Users can do credit shopping without signature, just by holding the handset over dedicated readers at stores showing the "iD" logo sticker. Like standard credit cards, this is an after payment service that requires no cash pre-charge.

The service consists of "DCMX mini" and "DCMX." DCMX mini allows credit payment of up to ¥10,000 per month, with the credit payment billed with the mobile phone service fee.

The other DCMX allows credit payment of more than ¥200,000 per month and issues a credit card from VISA or MasterCard. Along with the payment using the handset, standard credit payment using the card is also available. Users can pay less than ¥10,000 only by holding the handset over the reader, but have to input their code numbers when purchasing more than ¥10,000.

NTT DoCoMo indicates the easy subscription as one of DCMX's superiority to standard credit cards. DCMX, for example, allows users to start the credit payment only by accessing the DCMX i-mode website, inputting their code numbers and downloading the dedicated application. The company plans to introduce the DCMX application to its new mobile phone handsets to be released in the future as standard.
