Uganda's new bike payphones
In an effort to bring telecommunication closer to Ugandans, MTN publiCom has unveiled its latest payphone innovation mounted on a four-wheeled cycle, the publiCom Quad Bike. All Africa.cin, reports.
"The new mode of communication was launched at the MTN publiCom offices in Bukoto, on February 10. MTN has in the past introduced solar powered payphone booth and tricycle mounted payphones."
Similar projects elsewhere:
Rickshaws connect India's poor - Shyam Telecom, which operates in the state of Rajasthan, has equipped a fleet of rickshaws with a mobile phone. Drivers pedal these mobile payphones throughout the state capital, Jaipur, and the surrounding countryside.
