Teen Shares Story From Text Messaging Accident

The teenager who was text messaging when he lost control of his vehicle and struck and killed a cyclist, now talks with other students about the accident and a new type of message he hopes to send. Patrick Sims gave his first speech Monday to a driver's education class at Highlands Ranch High School, as part of the 300 hours of community service he has been sentenced to. [CBS4denver]

The crash happened the day before Thanksgiving.

"Really, I woke up that morning not thinking much of it, but in an instant a life is gone," Sims said. "One second it's there, one second it's gone. It's a very delicate thing." Sims said it is his mission to never forget the man he killed.
