Prostitutes Want Text Messaging Service

street_car_232.jpg Prostitutes in New Zealand have requested a free text messaging service from Vodafone, like the "safe service" set up for hitchhikers, reports TVNZ.

Telecom's "safe" service allows people to register their whereabouts via text message on a central database. The idea follows concerns over the safety of sex workers in Christchurch, in the wake of three murders last year connected to the sex industry."

Vodafone says there has been a significant level of interest and they are working towards providing a service similar to Telecom's."
