Texting airline passenger caused one hour flight delay
The Financial Mirror reports that a passenger who would not stop text messaging caused an hour delay for a departing plane in China, with a huge fight erupting on board.
"Whoever he was contacting, one man's insistence on using every last second to send text messages resulted in a one-hour delay for plane passengers en route to Beijing from the northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang last month.
The man refused several requests from the flight crew to turn off his mobile phone, then got into a fight with another passenger who made a much louder and less polite demand for him to comply with aviation regulations, the Beijing Evening News said.
Similar rows are becoming increasingly common as text-obsessed Chinese mobile phone users disturb the quiet of cinemas, theatres and other public venues with clicks, beeps and buzzes. "
... "despite the curbs and arrests, in a country where heavy controls remain on all forms of political dissent, text messages are one of the few media that allow Chinese people to poke fun at the ruling Communist Party and top state leaders."
