Verifying an ID card by SMS and soon, by MMS

China Mobile subscribers are now able to verify others' ID cards by SMS, on the Internet and soon, by logging onto sms.id5.cn, China Mobile will send the person's photograph by MMS. China Broadcast reports.

"China Mobile users can send an SMS with the ID card members name and serial number to the service number 1069-5110. If the number and the persons name match, the center will send back a confirming message to inquirer. The confirmation message is free if the center finds out it's a fraud, otherwise there is a charge.

Now, the inquirer can also get a picture of the person by logging on sms.id5.cn. The Multimedia Messaging Service will soon be launching the ability to view the person's photograph through mobile phone."
