Line of poetry to let tourists dial up facts on Fergusson

fergusson.jpg Mobile phone technology is being used to beat planning restrictions on a plaque to Scotland's "forgotten poet" Robert Fergusson, according to the Scotsman News.

"A phone number included on a plaque allows tourists to dial up an audio guide to the poet's life on their mobile phones .

"The bronze statue was unveiled more than a year ago outside Canongate Kirk, where Fergusson is buried. Up to now, the only information about the poet's life was written on paper tied to the railings of the kirkyard.

But a promise of funding from the Robert Burns Society of New York and the St Andrews Society of the State of New York has given the Friends the opportunity to erect a £1400 bronze plaque explaining Fergusson's history. "
