UK to trial CCTV traffic footage on mobile phones
Video footage from motorway CCTV cameras will be made available on mobile phones to help drivers plan their journeys in a new trial unveiled by the government today, reports Forbes.
"The Highways Agency will trial the new service with MX Data, which provides map-based traffic and travel information to the mobile service industry.
The service will be available on O2, Vodafone Group PLC, Deutsche Telekom AG unit T-Mobile UK and France Telecom SA's Orange networks, the agency said.
It added that the trial will start with 100 cameras on selected motorways and will extend to the full Highways Agency CCTV network by the end of the year."
