Secure your private text messages

s1_2.jpg After Stealth Text Messaging, here's encrypted SMS and DataWipe.

Text messaging users who are afraid that their private or confidential SMSes could fall into the wrong hands can now put their minds at ease, thanks to the introduction of TM Net’s Xecure Message Service, reports The (Malaysia) Star.

"The service protects users from anyone trying to read their messages without their knowledge.

XMS works by securing the end-to-end mobile messaging system via an encryption tool. But, before users can start to send or receive encrypted messages, they need to download and install the tmnet XMS software which can be found at http://xms.bluehyppo.com/

The software also comes with an additional security feature – Data Wipe, which can be used to delete all contact information and messages on the mobile phone if it is stolen or lost.

Lai said TM Net is exploring the possibility of introducing an MMS-compatible (multimedia messaging service) application as well as integration of the XMS technology with existing mobile-payment infrastructures and service channel."
