Cingular Offers Laptop Users Web Access via Cellular Signals

Cingular Wireless said it began offering a service to let customersreach the Internet via their laptop computers from anywhere they can access a cellphone signal at speeds comparable to digital subscriber line connections. [via the WSJ]

"Its BroadbandConnect service initially is being offered in 16 U.S. cities, covering about 35 million people, and competes against the third-generation technology offered by Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp., which also offer Internet access at similar speeds.
