Campaign aims to cut fire deaths
Text messaging is to be used in a drive to cut the number of fire deaths in Scotland, reports the scotsman .
It will be used as part of a TV, poster and bus ticket advertising blitz between now and the end of February. For a two-week period, bus tickets in selected postcode areas will carry advertisements and a number which mobile phone users can text. They will then be called by fire experts giving safety advice.
The TV advert, aimed at tackling complacency about the danger of fire, begins in an apparently safe family home and ends with a fire in a child's bedroom caused by overloaded sockets.
Last year 74 people died in domestic fires in Scotland."
