Police flood Paris to enforce emergency ban
Thousands of police are patrolling the streets of Paris to enforce a ban on public gatherings after another night of violence across France, reports The Telegraph.
"The emergency measures were imposed after police intercepted internet and SMS text messages calling for a weekend of violence in the centre of capital, which has so far escaped the disturbances that have blighted the deprived suburbs.
The ban runs from 10am today until 8am Sunday and is being enforced by 3,000 extra officers.
Last night saw a spike in the violence that has scarred France for 16 consecutive nights, with 502 cars set ablaze compared to 463 the previous night."
