SMS to remind tax payers to file returns

According to Web India, the Income Tax Department will issue SMS messages at the end of the month to mobile phone users, reminding them to file their tax returns by October 31, 2005.

"The Department is conducting an intensive publicity campaign exhorting taxpayers to file their returns. The campaign targets primarily the 'Stop-filers' and 'Non-filers', that is persons who have taxable income, but are not paying taxes or filing their returns."
