Lawmaker may propose banning cell phones in theaters, stores
The state lawmaker who pushed to make it illegal for drivers to use cell phones is thinking about expanding that ban, according to WTNH, CT.
Milford Democrat Richard Roysays he's ponderinglegislative proposals that would make it a crime to use cell phones in public places such as movie theaters and grocery stores. Roy says he's motivated by the rudeness of some cell phone users.
Roger Vann, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut says such a ban would violate individual freedoms. He says the ban on cell phones in cars is different because it deals with a public safety concern.
