Yahoo Japan steps up mobile content distribution

Yahoo Japan has launched a mobile content distribution service in which cellphone users can buy games, ring tones, news and other entertainment and information from 59 content providers, according to Reuters.

"The move is the latest in a series of new services targetted at the rapidly growing mobile Internet commerce market."

...In the new service, Yahoo Japan's revenues come as fees for settling transactions and collecting payments for content providers. It declined to comment on its sales target for the new business."
