Rude SMS leads to court case

According to the Hindustan Times, a Beijing woman has been ordered by a local court to make a written apology to her husband's current mistress, or his former wife, for insulting her by sending a SMS message.

"Lan had sent an insulting text message to the mobile phone of her husband's former wife whose surname is Zhang.

... According to Article 42 of the Law on Penalties of Public Order Offences, which was recently adopted by the Chinese parliament, people who send obscene, insulting, or intimidating messages to others, will be fined less than 500 yuan and be given five-day-long detention, or will be fined less than 500 yuan and be given 5 to 10-day-long detention, according to the severity of the transgression."
