Vodafone rebuked for 'best bar none' posters

vodafonelogo.jpeg Vodafone, the world's largest mobile phone company, has been censured by the advertising watchdog for claiming to be "best in Britain bar none", according to The Guardian.

"The Advertising Standards Authority said a poster campaign which promoted its call success rate was misleading.

The posters were a play on words - they showed a partly clouded sky with a mobile phone signal indicator, or bar, up the side. They included small print, stating that tests had proved the company's network had the best call success rate of any traditional mobile phone network.

The ASA is understood to have ruled that the wording would be interpreted as claiming Vodafone is generally superior to all the other networks.

Vodafone can appeal against the ASA's draft verdict before a final adjudication. It refused to comment."
