TeliaSonera Finland to abandon its payphone business by spring 2006
Finland joins the long list of countries to phase out it's public phone booths, due to the prevelence of mobile phones. Forbes reports.
"TeliaSonera Finland said it has decided to exit from its payphone business. The operator has just under 2000 public telephones in the country.
The company said sales of the payphone business have dropped steadily from the peak years of the mid 1990s.
'In Finland nearly everybody has a mobile phone and there has been not enough use for public telephones. The public phones will be phased out by April 30, 2006."
