Call for new phone record rules
All EU countries should keep mobile phone and e-mail records for longer to help combat terrorism and crime, Home Secretary Charles Clarke will urge, reports the BBC.
"He will address European Parliament and European Socialists in Strasbourg and an EU ministers' summit in Newcastle.
Mr Clarke has said telecommunications data proved "invaluable" in the investigation following the London bombings.
He has not spelt out how long companies should be required to keep records but said "the longer it is held, the better".
