Teenagers teach parents to text, helping hurricane families connect
From The Association Press: "As the cellular network buckled under the deluge of calls, wireless providers urged customers in the hurricane's path to lighten the system's load by using the text feature on their phones, which relies on a different bandwidth.
But as text messaging is far more popular with teenagers than with older consumers — young adults in many instances have became their family's lifelines, harnessing a simple technology that many older adults have shunned."
