China's Mobile phone for Kids

mobilelife0903.jpg A Chinese local telecom operator has designed it's own cell phone for kids (left, in the shape of a teddy bear), that allows parents to check their child's location using GPS at any time and limit the numbers they can call or send a short message to.

Parents can send an SMS to the company's information center, requesting the location of their children at any time. The location will arrive by SMS within several seconds, the company said.

However, according to CRI, the handsets and services named "Kare" has been met with a mixed response from local parents and skepticism from educators, who don't believe children should be distracted by cell phones in school.
