'Bomb' text message of lawyer stirs cops

According to SunStar Davao, a prominent Davao lawyer sent what he thought was an innocent text message to fellow members of the "Bomberos de Davao," an athletic group of Dabawenyos usually competing in friendly inter-city tournaments in golf, basketball and other sports events for a long time now.

"We BOMB Iloilo Sep 9 to 11. Feloship Party Sep 2, fri CAFE JUNA, 6 PM. Pls invite BOMBERO ELDERS. Thnx n.."

Somehow, the message strayed into some people who forwarded it to a police officer of the Davao City Police Office (the Philippines), on high alert against suspected Abu Sayyaf bombers.

Apparently the message was traced to the lawyer who had to explain it to police officers. As he did not look or act like a terrorist or bomber, the cops accepted the lawyer's explanation and apology.

Following is his message after the confrontation: "My apology for misuse of word 'bomb.' Alredy xplained to PNP Chief Insptrs. Pepino, Doyo, Anti-Terorist hotline 117 & Mayor Antalan. So sorry. N.."
