SGE_SHO57_080805033307_00_quicklook_193x245.jpgA text message that has been circulating claiming that all petrol stations would offer a 40 percent discount on Tuesday is a hoax.

The SMS claimed that all petrol stations would be giving a 40 percent discount off petrol prices between 4pm and 8pm as part of Singapore's National Day celebrations. Queues started forming at petrol station in several parts of the island from about 4pm.

Channel News Asia contacted petrol stations which said this was not true, and that the traffic congestion was causing safety problems.
