Woman goes to court about her phone bill
In what is sure to be one of many future spam stories which end up in court, Xinhuanet reports on Shanghai Mobile's suing a woman for refusing to pay her cell phone bills for four months, because she said she was charged for receiving unwanted short messages from several companies located outside the city.
"Yao Zuoqin stopped paying her mobile phone bills in February 2004 because she was outraged by short message service fees that continued to appear on her monthly statement.
Shanghai Mobile cut off Yao's service last May, and is demanding her pay 2,600 yuan (US$321) in fees and late penalties. Text messages account for about 250 yuan of the unpaid fees.
The defendant insisted on receiving a breakdown of why and how she was charged for the short messages before she could pay off the fees."
