Telefónica Spain launches cell phone for kids

pack padres.gif In spain, 45.7% of kids aged 10-14 years have a mobile phone. Spanish operator Telefónica is about to launch a kit for them.

Called "Mi primer teléfono móvil" (my first mobile phone), the kit includes a Motorola C-650 cameraphone, a pre-paid card "Tu Tiempo" to save on the cost of calls, and a series of exclusive services: the possibility to limit to 15 the numbers that the child can call and the possibility to choose 15 other numbers the kid will not be able to contact, not even by SMS. It offers also an unlimited access to e-moción and to the service "Localízame" (Locate Me), and the possibility to install educational programmes on the phone.

The localisation feature allows to track the kid within 200 meters in town and up to 4-5 kilometers in rural areas.
